The Zero Project Conference 2016, convened by the Essl Foundation, the World Future Council and the European Foundation Centre at the United Nations Office in Vienna, Austria was held on 10-12 February 2016. The event, which gathered innovators from more than 70 countries, highlighted 98 innovative policies and practices concerning inclusive education and/or ICTs from around the world in 35 plenary sessions and workshops. UNESCO IITE was invited to participate in the the panel discussion devoted to accessible ICT and inclusive education.

The course consists of five modules, which provide comprehensive information about adolescent physical, emotional, psycho-social and sexual development, puberty, reproductive health, prevention of sexually transmitted infections including HIV and unplanned pregnancy, as well as on effective teaching approaches. Each module has educational videos, exercises, tests and references.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova awarded the 2015 UNESCO-King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education to the Omar Dengo Foundation’s National Programme of Educational Informatics in Costa Rica and the Open Source Physics project developed by Singapore’s Ministry of Education during a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters on 13 January 2015.

In the framework of the joint project of UNESCO IITE/International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the IT center for persons with disabilities was established in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. Two-days training seminar “Modern assistive technologies for persons with disabilities” was carried out on the basis of the new IT center on 7-8 December 2015. The training programme covered both policy and practice issues with many international good practice examples.

On 16-17 October 2014 the Fifteenth session of the newly appointed IITE Governing Board was held in Moscow. Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (United Arab Emirates) was elected as a Chairperson of the Governing Board.

The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) in partnership with St.Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation (SUAI) and its UNESCO Chair “Distance Education in Engineering” organized an International Conference “UNESCO Chairs Partnership on ICT Use in Education”. The Conference took place on 1-5 June, 2014 in St. Petersburg (Pushkin), Russian Federation within the XV International Forum “Modern Information Society Formation - Problems, Perspectives, Innovation Approaches”.
