Libya Humanitarian Emergency

Libya continues to experience conflict and political instability, which has impacted millions of people across the country since the uprising in 2011. In the last 12 months, ongoing conflict in populated areas has directly affected an estimated 1.62 million Libyans. Humanitarian actors estimate that 1.1 million people, of which 378,000 are children and 307,000 are women, are in need of humanitarian assistance and protection in 2018. The protection environment in Libya remains greatly challenging because of the denial of access to healthcare and widespread and various forms of gender-based violence (GBV). In 2018, UNFPA continues its strong presence in the GBV sub-cluster and sexual and reproductive health / Minimum Initial Service Package working group.
