UNFPA Iraq

Despite boasting significant natural resources and skilled human capital, Iraq’s development has been marred by decades of wars, international sanctions and internal strife. Active in Iraq since 2004, UNFPA focuses on improving the life of women and youth by providing comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care information and services, supporting programmes to empower women, encouraging youth leadership and participation, and working to incorporate youth issues into national development strategies. UNFPA also provides support during humanitarian emergencies.
