21/11/2002 - Numerous speakers and over 250 participants concluded during the colloquium “A Child in my street” that only a better understanding of this problem can help in elaborating strategies, policies, programmes and projects more focused on the real life experienced by these children.
UNESCO, Paris, 21 November 2002
Street children around the world
What do we know presently about the street children ? Who is defending and protecting them ? What actions are genuinely efficient ? What are the major obstacles encountered in this field ?
Children of the globalization:
Are the causes of the extreme vulnerability of street children of the same nature and are they equally spread in all parts of the world ? Can we act the same way regardless of the child and his (her) surrounding ?
Urban children:
How community groups, associations, foundations, private sector companies, and other organizations help street children ? What are the positive actions to be retained ? What modes of help need to be developed in order to reintegrate the street children into today's and, moreover, into the urban society tissue of tomorrow ?
