Status of the artist in Denmark

Most artists need to resort to other forms of gainful employment. It is only a very small part of Danish artists who are able to live solely off the income from their artistic work. Many artists (especially musicians) work as e.g. teachers in parallel to their artist career; however, all kinds of jobs are combined with artists’ main occupation in the attempt to gain sufficient earnings.
