The 5th European Music Forum organised by the European Music Council (EMC) successfully took place in Riga, Latvia from the 11th to the 14th of June 2015. This year’s forum centered around the theme of “Access Music Digital?”. Various panels took place, each made up of professionals in the field of music – whether musicians or music-policy-makers – and each exploring a specific angle on the issue of digital music, inter alia audience development and the role of concert venues today.
The Forum which was co-hosted by the Latvian Music Council gathered almost 100 participants from around the world, travelling from as far as Malawi to take part in this event. Participants enjoyed attending not only the various conferences but also the different concerts and musical performances given by Latvian and German artists in incredible venues such as the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music, the Cesis Concert Hall, and the National Library of Latvia.
