UNESCO organizes a meeting of the International Scientific Committee for the Pedagogical Use of the General History of Africa, for the validation of the Common Pedagogical Contents.

This meeting is aimed at examining and validating the pedagogic common contents (curricula outlines, teacher’s guides and textbooks) developed for each of the three different age groups in primary and secondary education, taking into account the comments and recommendations of the peer-review that was undertaken by Experts. To that end the meeting also brings together the Coordinators of the Drafting Teams and the Experts who participated in this peer-review exercise.

About thirty experts participate: the members of the Committee, history teachers, curriculum developers, pedagogues, and specialists in history teaching.

The host country Sudan and the Council of African Political Parties based in Khartoum sponsor the meeting entirely, including a visit to Gebel Barkal, the first site in Sudan to be inscribed in the World Heritage Site List in 2003.
