The launching ceremony of four Master Degree programmes coordinated by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), with UNESCO’s support, will take place at the Institute of Higher Studies of the State University of Haiti in Port-au-Prince on 5 December 2013.

The recently created Institute of Higher Studies, established on the basis of the cooperation agreement between CLACSO and the State University of Haiti, will propose the following four master degree programms during two years : “Education: policies and management”; “Policies for youth and children”; “Development Economics”, and “Latin American and Caribbean Thought”.

UNESCO has supported the preparation of the curricula of the Master Degree Programmes by drawing on the study developed by its Social and Human Sciences Sector on the social inclusion of women in Haiti, and the curriculum on socially inclusive public policies prepared for the Henri Christophe Campus of of the State University of Haiti (Limonade).

The programme will help to create a critical mass of Haitian professionals with enhanced ability to participate in academic development (education, research and awareness raising), and to take actively part in the professional development of Haitian institutions and organizations in key areas of policy development, whether at the macro or micro level.
