The four-year UNESCO-China Funds-in-Trust (CFIT) project, which was launched in late 2012, is in the second year of its project cycle. The 8-million project aims at enhancing the capacity of the key local Teacher Training Institutions through information and communications technology (ICT) in 8 African countries. Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, and Namibia joined the project in the first year, and have entered the implementation stage.
The second group of CFIT project countries: DR Congo, Congo, Liberia, Tanzania, and Uganda joined the project in October 2013 – they are finishing their needs assessment reports and have started drafting their project documents and work plans.
Representatives from the second group of countries and from the Chinese Embassies will gather at Paris from 16 to 17 April 2014. With the attendance of international experts, UNESCO staff, permanent delegates of the project countries and China, this meeting will pave the way ahead for these 5 target countries.
