In conjunction with the 39th Session of the World Heritage Committee, the World Heritage Young Experts Forum: Youth Involvement in Sustainable Management of World Heritage Sites is organized by the German Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Education, Science, Advanced Training and Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate in cooperation with the World Heritage Centre.

The objectives are: to develop an deeper understanding of the Convention and awareness of the challenges and potential impacts of a sustainable management of World Heritage sites; and to empower young experts to develop their own sustainable initiatives in their country contributing to make World Heritage fit for the future

Activities will include inputs from experts and heritage specialists, group discussions and workshops, hands-on / practical activities on heritage conservation in the form of a mini-World Heritage Volunteer project, site visits  to the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, fortress Marksburg, Frontiers of the Roman Empire, Museum “Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland”, Aachen Cathedraland), presentations by the young experts participants on issues related to heritage in their own countries, Youth Model of the World Heritage Committee simulation activity and a youth experts attendance to the States Parties on the first day of the 39COM session.

The work and results of the Forum shall be presented at the opening of the 39COM, to be held in Bonn from 28 June to 8 July 2015.
