The Regional meeting on the Pacific World Heritage Action Plan 2016-2020 will take place in Suva (Fiji) from 1 to 4 December 2015, and is jointly organized by the World Heritage Centre, UNESCO Apia office, Fiji Museum and the Pacific Heritage Hub.

The Pacific World Heritage Action Plan (2010-2015) was developed by the Pacific States Parties and endorsed by the World Heritage Committee (Decision 36 COM 10A). As it comes to an end in December 2015, the objectives of this meeting are:

  • To review the current Pacific World Heritage Action Plan (2010-2015);
  • To develop and approve a regional Action Plan for the Pacific (2016-2020); and
  • To enhance regional cooperation among the Pacific World Heritage Network.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of 16 Pacific Member States, France, the three advisory bodies to the World Heritage Committee (ICOMOS, IUCN and ICCROM), and regional institutions and Category 2 Centres that are located in the Asia and the Pacific.

This meeting will receive financial support from the Netherlands Funds-in-Trust available at the World Heritage Centre.
