Brief outlook on UNESCO Office in Venice's mandate, financial arrangements, legal status and organisational framework

UNESCO Venice Office's mandate is to achieve UNESCO’s and Member States’ goals in the fields of science and culture as set out and defined in the C/4 and C/5. Following the Cooperative agreement signed in 1995 between UNESCO and the Italian Government, UNESCO Office in Venice's financial resources consists of Italian contribution matched by UNESCO contribution. UNESCO Office Venice is established within the legal framework of UNESCO. Its organisational framework is formed by 2 statutory bodies (Steering Committee and Scienfitic Council), the Director, International and Local Staff, Experts Working Groups and Task Forces.

Appointed new Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, Venice (Italy) 07-11-2006
By decision of UNESCO Director General Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, Mr Engelbert Ruoss has been appointed to the post of Director of the Office in Venice starting from November 2006
