Seventeen new elements inscribed on the lists of the Convention

On Wednesday 4 December, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage inscribed two new elements on List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding:

It also selected “[Methodology for inventorying intangible cultural heritage
in biosphere reserves: the experience of Montseny|http://www.unesco.org/culture/ich/index.php?lg=en&pg;=00011&Art18;=00648|in]” from Spain for the Register of Best Safeguarding Practices. This Register helps share successful safeguarding experiences and presents in details how they could respond to the challenges of the transmission of intangible heritage and values to future generations (see the Register of Best Safeguarding Practices online).
In the afternoon, the Committee also inscribed fourteen elements on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity:
