Earthwatch Institute
Earthwatch Institute is a non-governmental organization, whose goal is to support scientific research and conservation through networks of cooperation and volunteer assistance. In May 2004, the World Heritage Centre and the UK-based European branch of Earthwatch Institute, signed a partnership to promote the World Heritage Convention and reinforce field research on World Heritage sites through a joint programme of conservation activities.
Objectives :
- Provide support for scientific field research, through a workforce of volunteer field assistance to help collect data, and supply logistic support and funds.
- Strengthen awareness about the importance of World Heritage by involving communities, the private sector and people living in or nearby a site.
- Create a network of partnerships with the private sector and the civil society
