Description
Il s'agit d'un ensemble monumental déstiné au culte d' Echmoun, dieu guérisseur vénéré à Saïda à l'Epoque Phénicienne. Le site a fait l'objet de nombreux remaniements et ajouts entre la fin du VIIème siècle av.J.-C. jusqu'au VII - VIIIème siècle ap.J.-C.
Au vu de la très grande richesse des sculptures et des mosaïques qui y ont été trouvées, il semble que le site ait fait l'objet d'une grande dévotion durant cette longue période. L'occupation presque ininterrompue du site durant des siècles et les diverses transformations qu'il a subi démontre qu'il était étroitement lié à la vie de la cité de Saïda.
