This is the first international training course prepared by the World Heritage Training and Research Institute for the Asia and the Pacific Region (WHITR-AP) in collaboration with the International Organization for Conservation of Cultural Heritage (ICCROM), on Management Planning for Cultural Heritage.

The course will be led by advisors from ICCROM and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) as well as domestic experts from universities and ministries. The course aims to equip participants with practical knowledge to initiate and develop management plans in their own countries. It combines classroom and on-site lectures with a range of learning strategies drawing upon participants' own professional knowledge to strengthen communication and sharing experience in practices. This should develop deeper understanding of management planning in various contexts.

The course is designed in line with Global Training Strategy for World Cultural and Natural Heritage (WHC-01/CONF. 208/14) and the UNESCO Periodic Report for Asia and the Pacific, to meet the needs of States Parties in sustainable conservation and development of heritage sites.
