Actualmente un total de 79 expertos integran la red de facilitadores de la UNESCO, que ofrece formaciones y servicios de capacitación en el mundo entero. En total, 43% de los facilitadores proceden de África y 40% son mujeres.
Formados mediante una serie de talleres de “formación para formadores”, organizados desde el 2011 (Pekín, Harare, Libreville, Sofía, La Habana, Abu Dabi y Porto Novo), los facilitadores se han familiarizado con los materiales pedagógicos de la UNESCO con el fin de adaptarlos y utilizarlos en los proyectos de fortalecimiento de las capacidades.
La actualización de los conocimientos de los formadores sigue siendo un aspecto importante del programa. Un buen ejemplo de ello es el taller sobre la realización de inventarios con la participación de las comunidades, para los facilitadores de habla francesa de África.
