Description
Il s'agit du paysage culturel formé par l'aboutissement de la chaîne des Pyrénées dans la Mer Méditerranée. Côte rocheuse escarpée, Caps Béar et de Creus, massif des Albàres, c'est un paysage naturel de qualité exceptionnelle, qui possède également de grandes richesses en bio-diversité, tant marine que terrestre, exemplaire des rivages méditerranéens, avec des caractères exceptionnels, comme le vignoble côtier de Banyuls et ses spectaculaires aménagements. Territoire marqué par la présence humaine et les échanges méditerranéens depuis les temps les plus reculés, il est marqué par de fortes empreintes historiques (grecques, romaines, médiévales et modernes), et par l'association de l'oeuvre d'un certain nombre des plus grands artistes européens du XXème siècle à la recherche de la lumière et de la couleur.
