Description

The locality is represented by a set of sites on the territory of the Slovak Republic demonstrating a traditional method of economic activities based on natural conditions In the region. As a whole, these areas represent a unique Image of landscape formed by human activities. The territories present examples of the category of organically developed landscape In three subcategories: vinicultural landscape, grassland landscape and old mining landscape. The locality as a complex makes possible clear presentation of the impact of natural-climatic and sconomiosocial conditions on the population's development, way of housing and farming. Localities In In the Vinicultural landscape subcategory represent the organic landscape in development, which has preserved the active social role in the soc7isty. Representative localities for tentative list preparation in this subcategory had been selected from the whole territory of Slovakia on the basis of several criteria: shape, size, compactness, anthropogenic forms of relief, preservation of traditional forms of farming, the presence of building objects, historical conditions of cultural landscape forming and the location In the cultural landscape. 6 vinicultural areas and 40 vinicultural regions had been evaluated during tne selection process. Selected area represents historical forms of land use In relation to secular and sacral monuments in this subcategory, following viniculture[ areas have been selected., Skalicki, Podmalokarpotsk;a, Modmkamenskd and TokajskA. Tokajskd Anicultural area has been selected in relation to the cross-border cooperation with Hungary. Localities in the grassland landscape subcategory represent organic landscape in Its development, which has partially maintained the active social mia In the society. Representative localities for tentative list preparation in this subcategory had been selected from the whole territory of Slovakia on the basis of several criteria: a low degree of Intensification, a high landscape diversity, well preserved traditional wooden and other original dwellings, preserved traditional forms of farming, significant social and ecological value of the territory, harmonisation of agricultural functions, forest and water management recreation and nature protection with landscape-ecological values of the area. 62 grassland localities had been evaluated within the selection process of which following have been selected with regard to historical context and the presence of mosaic landscape structures: Kostoliansko-Iehotsky region (Jedlové Kostol'any - Malá Lehota and Vel'ká Lehota), Horehronie (Hel'pa - Telgart), Bocianska valley (Vysna Boca and Nizna Boca), Turiec (Sklabina - Bela - Blatnica), Podpolianska area (Strelniky - Poniky - Hrochot - Hrinova - Ocova), Orava (Podbiel - Zuberec - Zazriva - Terchová), Zamagurie (Zdiar - Osturna - Velka Frankova - Mala Frankova - Jezersko), Liptovska Teplicka and Jakubany. Localities in the old mining landscape subcategory represent organic landscape in development with a possible transition into a relict landscape. Representative localities for the tentative list preparation in this subcategory had been selected from the whole territory of Slovakia an the basis of several criteria: shape and size, compactness, anthropogenic forms of relief, presence of constructive technical and secret objects, historical conditions of cultural landscape formation, general contextualisation into cultural landscape and relations to currently requested functions (tourism). 66 localities of the old mining landscape had been evaluated within the selection process and following areas have been selected in this subcategory with regard to the mining level, sacral and technical monuments and historical centers Banská Stiavnica region (silver - Banská Stiavnica - Hodrusa - Stiavnické Bane - Banská Belá). Kremnica region (gold - Kremnica - Tajov - Banská Bystrica - Spania Dolina) and Cervenica (opal - Cervenica - Zlatá Baña).
