First event out of the series of open workshops “Ideas. Technology. Education”

On September 20, 2013 the first event out of the series of open workshops “Ideas. Technology. Education” held by UNESCO IITE in cooperation with Independent Nonprofit Organization “E-Learning for Nanotech Industry (eNano)” , designer of innovative branch educational resources and coordinator of programme “Development of system of e-Learning”, took place at ROSNANO within the framework of agreement of long-term cooperation in the use of ICT in technical education and human resources development in the field of nanotech industry.

The workshop was devoted to the problem of use of up-to-date educational technologies in technical education and the role of ICT in educational activities and professional development of teaching staff for higher technical educational system; it provided an opportunity for managers, teachers and specialists of institutions of higher education who took part in workshop to discuss wide range of topical problems of ICT in education with scientists and experts.

The main speakers were Professor Alexander Khoroshilov (National Programme Officer,  UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education), Professor Jianzhong Cha (Member of the UNESCO IITE Governing Board, Head of the UNESCO Chair of the interaction of industry and education, Beijing Jiaotong University, China), Dmitry Izmestiev (PhD, Vice President on Innovations of Group of Companies LANIT, Russia).

Interaction with experts was proved useful and alive for the participants, who came to the workshop directly at ROSNANO. Based upon the number of the workshop Internet broadcasting viewers, the offline workshop was also very interesting event for online participants as well.

The series of workshops provide an opportunity for participants both to get new knowledge and to analyze the practices of innovation implementation in the field of technical education, to share experience and to declare about their own interesting working.

The series of public workshops “Ideas. Technology. Education”

The joint project of UNESCO IITE and Independent Nonprofit Organization “E-Learning for Nanotech Industry (eNano)”

The mission of the project The series of public workshops “Ideas. Technology. Education” is the spread of advanced ideas of the ICT-pedagogy integration based of  the use of innovative technologies of e-learning and distance education, coverage of global trends and best practices in the field of ICT in education, quality assurance of technical education.

The project goal is building of platform for discussion, presentations and experience share for scientists, experts in the field of development of innovative educational technologies, representatives of international and Russian IT sector, research centers and teaching-scientific staff of higher educational institutes.

The project task is generalization and analysis of modern theories and practices of the integration of ICT and pedagogy, e-learning and distance education, professional development of teaching staff of higher education system, demonstration the experience of new workings in the field of educational technologies.

The series of workshops “Ideas. Technology. Education” is the new format of public events: conferences, lectures, speeches, presentations, discussions and workshop sessions with webcasts in real time.

The series of public workshops “Ideas. Technology. Education” is an opportunity to declare the promising workings in the field of ICT use in education and new methodological approaches to the problem of integration of ICT and pedagogy, to demonstrate new tools of e-learning and innovative technologies of professional development of teaching staff, to discuss with leading scientists and experts the wide range of topical problems of ICT in education on the highest level and to share the own experience with colleagues.

The seminars will cover the policy in the field of ICT in education and teachers professional development taking into account the main trends of ICT and modern pedagogy. The topics of the series of public workshops are supposed to cover discussions of topical problems of professional standards setting, formation and use of open educational resources (OER) for nanotech industry, use of ICT and electronic distance technologies in technical education, development of innovative electronic resources and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), implementation of virtual laboratories, e-learning simulators and remote workshops, development of cloud services and technologies. The workshops will also address the issues related to the usage of such advanced technologies as Cloud Computing and Services, Mobiles and Apps including the ones for Tablet Computing and BYOD(Bring Your Own Device), Personalized learning and Flipped Classrooms, wearable technologies, 3D printing and augmented reality, information and educational Collaborative Environments and Personal Learning Environments, Digital Identity and Natural User Interfaces, Serious Games and Game-Based Learning, Learning Analytics and Semantic Applications, Open Data and Open Source, etc.

The first workshop was devoted to the topic of advanced educational technologies and the role of ICT in the educational activity.

The main topic directions of the series of public workshops will be the following:

  • UNESCO policy in the field of education in the frame of ICT: equal access and quality providing, professional development and ICT competency qualification of teaching staff, MOOCs and OER
  • ICT integrated teaching/learning methodologies and quality of technical education: e-learning and distance learning, virtual laboratories and remote seminars, OER and MOOC. The best practices and global trends
  • The influence of educational technologies on technical education
  • Innovative methods and tools of technical education, personalized education, integrated e-learning resources
