UNESCO IITE took part in the scientific and practical conference "Educational space of Arctic: traditions and innovations" held on December 3-4, 2013 in Yakutsk, the Russian Federation

Within the Memorandum of understanding established between IITE and the Government of the Sakha (Yakutiya) on December 3-4, 2013 the scientific and practical conference "Educational space of Arctic: traditions and innovations" was held in Yakutsk, the Russian Federation. The conference was organized by the Ministry of education of the Sakha (Yakutiya), Republican teacher training institute, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutiya) under the name of Donskoy-II in cooperation with IITE.

The main aim of the conference was establishment of conceptual vision of the Arctic educational space within its economic, organizational and sociocultural vectors of development.

The conference participants discussed further implementation of IITE project "Teachers of the Arctic" aimed at strengthening of dialogue and cooperation between the Arctic regions and foreign countries, as well as modernization of an education system; training of the new type of teacher meeting the demands of global information society.

Ms N. Tokareva, Ph.D., UNESCO IITE programme specialist, and Mr M. Orlov, Dr. of sciences, UNESCO IITE expert, head of the Modern TRIZ Academy (Germany) took part in the conference.
