UNESCO IITE at the Central Asia Symposium on ICT in Education 2014

The Central Asian Symposium on ICT in Education "Embracing Technologies, Empowering Teachers” was held Tashkent, Uzbekistan on 27-29 May 2014.

The Symposium was organized with generous contribution from the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan by the UNESCO Bangkok Office in close collaboration with the UNESCO Tashkent Office, UNESCO Almaty Office, and UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE), Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) and Intel.

Main CASIE-2014 objectives:

  • To provide a platform for national education policy makers, practitioners and development partners to share issues and challenges that Central Asian countries are facing in integrating ICT into the education systems, with particular emphasis on the use of ICT for teacher empowerment with technology and for technology;
  •  To promote collaboration and partnership among the Central Asian countries in the identification of solutions to similar issues and challenges in relation to the effective and efficient use of ICT in education.

On the last day of the Symposium, the Government of Uzbekistan was organized a study visit to the Multimedia Center of the Ministry of Public Education and to the National Library of Uzbekistan.
