UNESCO IITE at the VII Moscow International Seminar "Dialogue of Cultures in a Single Educational Space"
 

UNESCO IITE was one of the co-organizers of the VII International Seminar "Dialogue of Cultures in a Single Educational Space: Traditional Values ??and Innovative Solutions", which was held on December 2-5, 2014 in Moscow as part of a series of workshops "Dialogue of Civilizations and Intercultural Cooperation”.

Welcoming speeches at the opening ceremony were delivered by Mr. M. Tikhonov, First Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Education, Mr. O. Krutov, Rector of the Moscow Institute of Open Education, Mr. V. Ugarov, Deputy Director of the Solzhenitsyn House for the Russian Diaspora, Ms. K. Gaverdovsky, Second Secretary of the National Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, Prof. A. Khoroshilov, National Programme Officer and Officer-in-Charge of UNESCO IITE, Mr. A. Borisov, First Deputy Chairman of the UN Association of Russia, Head of the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Democracy, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Mr. A. Kamyshanov, President of the Federation for Peace and Concord, and Ms. N. Larionova, Executive Director of the Network of UNESCO Associated Schools in the Russian Federation, Regional Coordinator of UNESCO ASPnet region "Volga". Keynote speeches at the plenary session were delivered by Mr. Massimo Amadio, Programme Specialist, International Bureau of Education (Geneva), Ms. Nigar Akhundova, Adviser for Humanitarian Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Russian Federation, Ms. T. Guzenkova, the Deputy Head of the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies, Head of Centre for Near-Abroad Countries, Mr. Panagiotis Giannakopoulos, President of the International Institute for Hellenism Studies and Migration Policy (Greece), Ms. E. Rosinskaya, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Programme Office in the Russian Federation, Mr. A. Evdokimov, Professor of Theology at Moscow State Linguistic University, a candidate for Cultural Studies, Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and   Ms. I. Fateeva, Doctor of Philology, Head of the department of Journalism and Media Education at Chelyabinsk State University.

The topics of the seminar, were the analysis of international concepts and legal framework in the field of intercultural education in the context of sustainable development; discussion of the current understanding of the dialogue of cultures and its manifestation in a single information and educational space; sharing innovations and exchange of practical experience accumulated in Russia and abroad in the field of harmonization of international relations by means of education, promotion of cultural diversity and equity in access to education.

Ms. S. Knyazeva, Head of UNESCO IITE Section "Digital Pedagogy and Learning Materials" made a presentation at a session "Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Identity in the Context of Informatization and Globalization". With the support of UNESCO Intersectoral Platform "UNESCO's Contribution to Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation", UNESCO IITE designed a portal"Climate Change Adaptation: Traditional Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples Inhabiting the Arctic and Far North" containing open information and educational resources based on traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples of the Arctic and the Far North. In 2014, information about the UNESCO IITE project was published in the “UN in Russia” Bulletin.
