WELCOME

The guiding documents for UNESCO’s activities in education are the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the six Education for All (EFA) Goals. UNESCO formulates its vision on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education and lifelong learning as follows: “A world without boundaries where technologies support education to build inclusive knowledge societies”. Facilitating greater inclusion of all members of society into existing educational practices and environments, supporting EFA goals and promoting new opportunities for participation in the knowledge societies have become major strategic challenges for UNESCO’s activities.

UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education organizes international conferences biennially. The IITE-2012 Conference will be entirely devoted to ICT application in education. The IITE-2010 International Conference brought together more than 200 participants from 25 countries. The number of participants at the IITE-2012 International Conference is expected to double.
