eLearning: building institutional capacity through distance education

IIEP offers in-service training for decision-makers and professionals from education ministries, universities, and other public bodies responsible for education, wishing to broaden their knowledge and enhance their skills.

IIEP’s online training offer consists of: thematic courses of 2–3 months, an 11-month programme on Education Sector Planning, and thematic online forums. Participants are asked to spend 6–8 hours per week preparing exercises and other activities.

The courses permit interactivity among participants and trainers, with a flexible framework that makes allowances for participants’ other commitments.

  • Hands-on and practice-oriented training: Participants study using their national data, documentation, and references in their national settings. The practical exercises allow them to apply directly the skills acquired.
  • Quality at every step of the way: Training materials are based on the Institute’s up-to-date knowledge from its research and field work. Courses are administered by seasoned experts from IIEP staff and/or other international experts.
  • Interactive and peer learning process: Participants from the same ministry or institution and from different countries communicate with each other, exchange experiences, collaborate, build and strengthen their professional networks.
  • Flexibility: Participants can organize their own study schedules according to their daily, professional commitments.

Evaluation and certification

Throughout their training, participants prepare and submit individual and/or group reports to the IIEP course instructors, who then assess them. All course participants receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the course. When a course offers an individual assessment, participants who successfully complete it will receive an IIEP course certificate.
