UNESCO Office in Moscow celebrates 20 years

The UNESCO Office in Moscow was opened in 1994 to strengthen cooperation with the Russian Federation. In 2002, as a result of decentralization the mandate of the UNESCO Moscow office was expanded technically to full spectrum of UNESCO’s sectoral activities as well as geographically to work with five countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation. It is the Organization’s only cluster office based in Europe and North America.

Health education on the agenda of the IV Congress of School and University Health and Medicine

About 400 school health workers and researches from Russia and other European and Central Asian countries gathered at the IV Congress of School and University Health in Saint Petersburg (Russia) on May 15-16, 2014. They reiterated their commitment to promote school-based health programmes and learnt about various approaches to enhance health education in schools by using comprehensive scientifically accurate, culturally appropriate and age-specific programmes presented by UNESCO.

Arts Education in CIS countries

Taking into account the importance of Arts education and education through Arts for social and cultural development of personality and its role in supporting and promoting cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue, UNESCO and the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation (IFESCCO) are supporting the pilot long-term project “Arts Education in CIS countries: Building Creative Capacities for the 21st Century” (2009-2014).

Table game “Voyage along the Volga River”

Within the joint programme “Living Volga”, implemented by the UNESCO Moscow Office and the Coca-Cola Hellenic Eurasia company, the table game “Voyage along the Volga River” was developed and published. Activities of the programme "Living Volga" are aimed to protect and use rationally ecosystems of the Volga River.
