The UNESCO Office in Brasilia and Oboré, a Brazilian organization dealing with communication and cultural projects, have launched a publication and a series of radio spots on human rights addressed to community radio professionals and volunteers.
The publication, Human Rights in Community Media: Citizenship in Our Daily Life, presents in 38 pages basic notions of civil, political and social rights, together with other issues. It is available exclusively in electronic version, free for download.

This publication was conceived as a communication tool for those responsible for dissemination of news and information of interest for the community. It contains the full text of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and highlights the importance of the fundamental rights for promotion of citizenship, ethics, mutual respect and attitudes of non-violence.

Besides information and ideas on human rights, the publication contains suggestions on other issues to be referred to in the community media broadcasting system, such as birth certificate, discrimination against women, domestic violence and how to behave when approached by policemen. Each of the issues raised in the publication is illustrated by a corresponding radio spot, also available online for free download.
