UNESCO Presents Community Multi-media Centre Methodology in Jamaica

30-05-2002 ()
- An interactive community multi-media centre to demonstrate how to combine computer, fax, Internet, email, photocopying and telephone with the traditional radio to inform, educate, access, repackage and store knowledge will be presented by the UNESCO Kingston Office at two events in Jamaica: the conference of the Association of Caribbean University Research and Institutional Libraries (ACURIL 2002) in Ochos Rios (May 27- June 1) and the Green Expo 2002 in Kingston (June 7 – June 9, 2002).
The exhibitions, the first of their kind in the CARICOM Caribbean, will be carried out in conjunction with community radio stations locally, which will carry live broadcasts and web casting from the site and allow the public to access information and participate in discussions online through a chat room.

The information gathered and exchanged during these sessions will be re-packaged and placed on the website for future access and information by the general public. A live broadcast of the event can be accessed at the conferences website.
