Italy Establishes National Committee for Information For All Programme

Italy has joined the some 40 countries that have established a National Committee for UNESCO’s Information for All Programme. The Committee that was created by the Italian National Commission for UNESCO is chaired by Claudio Ciborra, an international expert in economics of information and transactions.
Mr Ciborra is head of the Department of Information Systems at London School of Economics and Political Science and Professor at Libera Universita' Di Lingue E Comunicazione IULM in Milan.
The other members of the Committee are Fabrizio Pizzutilo, Professor at the Engineering Faculty of Politecnico di Milano, and Andrea Carignani, Lecturer in ICT at IULM University in Milan.
Created in 2000, the Information for All Programme provides a platform for international policy discussions and guidelines for action on preservation of information and universal access to it, participation of all in the emerging global information society and ethical, legal and societal consequences of ICT developments. Its Intergovernmental Council is composed of representatives of 26 Member States guiding the planning and implementation.
The main tasks of IFAP National Committees are to identify and motivate national institutions concerned with the various objectives and activities of IFAP and constitute a permanent forum to facilitate the flow of information between UNESCO/IFAP and interested national institutions.
