Cette base de données comporte 2756 lois provenant de 188 Etats Membres consultables en ligne, et on dénombre 4709 recherches et 572231 impressions par mois. 

En compilant sur Internet les législations nationales de ses États membres, l’UNESCO offre à tous les acteurs concernés (gouvernements, douanes, marchands d’art, organisations, juristes, acheteurs…) une source d’information complète et facilement accessible. En cas d’incertitude juridique concernant la provenance d’un objet (volé, pillé, exporté, importé ou acquis illégalement), il est en effet utile de consulter rapidement la législation nationale concernée. Au cours des trois derniers mois, on a dénombré 10,812 recherches sur cette base et 1,196.049 impression.

La Base de données de l'UNESCO sur les législations nationales du patrimoine culturel permet de consulter:

• les législations nationales applicables à la protection du patrimoine culturel en général ;
• les certificats d’exportation et/ou d’importation pour les biens culturels (sur demande);
• les traductions, officielles ou non, des législations et certificats nationaux ;
• les coordonnées des autorités nationales compétentes en matière de patrimoine culturel ;
• les adresses des sites Internet officiels nationaux consacrés à la protection du patrimoine culturel.
