- 61 NEW SITES ON THE WORLD HERITAGE LIST UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee,
meeting since November 27 in Cairns, Australia, has inscribed 61 new cultural
and natural sites on the World Heritage List which now contains690 sites
of “outstanding universal value” in 122 countries. For the first
time, sites in Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Nicaragua and Suriname have been included
