UNESCO Trains Computer Trainers in Afghanistan

16-12-2002 ()
UNESCO Trains Computer Trainers in Afghanistan
More than a dozen staff and students of Kabul University have received specialized instruction from UNESCO trainers in the use of Internet and software applications. The course, conducted by Sayed Latif, IT trainer with the UNESCO Kabul office, was designed to prepare a group of new trainers who could then train others.
For most of the course participants, it was the first time they had used a computer or accessed the Internet.

Recently, UNESCO, with funds from the Government of Japan, established an Internet Café in the library of Kabul University. This was the first Internet connection available to staff and students. The UNESCO course aims to train a cadre of people who can operate the Café, trouble-shoot when problems occur and train other staff and students. A second course is underway, with more planned.
