Training course "ICTs for Information Professionals" Now Online

- "ICTs for Library and Information Professionals" is the title of an ICT training package for library and information personnel in developing countries. The package consisting of CD-ROMs and teacher guides for each of its six modules has been developed by UNESCO Bangkok with funding from the Japanese Funds-in-Trust for Communication and Information. Three of the six modules prepared by Lourdes T. David are now online available at WebWorld .
The package that belongs to the public domain and can be copied and translated for educational purposes indicating its source, includes the following modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Information and Communication Technologies
Module 2: Introduction to Integrated Library Systems
Module 3: Information Seeking in an Electronic Environment
Module 4: Database Design, and Information Storage and Retrieval
Module 5: The Internet as an Information Resource
Module 6: Web Page Concept and Design Getting a Web Site Up and Running
The development of the package has started in 2000 when experts in ICT training gathered in Indonesia to discuss the feasibility of such a project.
