Off-the-job training

Vocational training undertaken away from the normal work situation. It is usually only part of a whole training programme, in which it is combined with on-the-job training.

Training which takes place away from a person's job, usually off the premises, e.g. at TAFE, but may also be on the premises, e.g. in a special training area.
