UNESCO sponsors media training in Liberia

On 14 March 2006, the Liberia Media Center (LMC) launched a one-month training programme for Liberian media professionals.
The current UNESCO-sponsored training course focuses on enhancing the computer skills of media managers and newspaper typesetters and offers an insight into layouting techniques as well as basic tools to establish and maintain websites.
According to Lawrence Randall, Executive Director of LMC, the computer skills training is part of the Center’s “Bridging the Digital Gap Campaign for 2006”. Supervised by Duplex Tchouente, IT specialist from Cameroon, the training course comprises approximately 50 media professionals.
Founded in 2005, the LMC is a non-profit, non-governmental and independent media resource center, which provides Liberian journalists and media organizations with access to basic computer IT and training workshops and facilitates media capacity building programmes.
