Multimedia Training Kit (MMTK) Now in French

01-02-2005 (Paris)
French language units have been added for the first time to the Multimedia Training Kit (MMTK), a comprehensive suite of open-access, interactive, learning modules covering organizational, management, content production and issue-based training, for community multimedia centres (CMCs), community radio stations and telecentres.
The French version of MMTK is being built up to meet the needs of the rapidly growing numbers of CMCs, radios and telecentres in Francophone West Africa.

The number of modules in English has also considerably expanded, both through coordinated production by the UNESCO-led consortium of partners developing the kit and through parallel production funded by other partners and notably by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

These workshop training materials can be downloaded from the ItrainOnline partners’ website, http://www.itrainonline.org/itrainonline/mmtk. UNESCO also regularly distributes the materials on CD ROM. The new units include a basic introduction to research methods, radio formats, strategic technology planning, producing content for exchange and audio archiving. Units now available in French include a range of basic radio units and an introduction to open source software. More new materials will be put online in the coming weeks.

International partners having joined UNESCO in supporting the MMTK financially, include the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Rockefeller Foundation. The partners involved in developing the kit, coordinated by the Association for Progressive Communication, include OneWorld.net, AMARC, and Panos Institute of West Africa.
