BNO is the responsible Bureau for TVET in SURINAME and is part of the Department for TVET of the Ministry of Education and Community Development (MINOV). Major area of activities are: advising the Ministry on policy matters regarding TVET, Manage the schools for TVET(lower and upper secondary level and tertiary level), including budget, personnel, facilities (including physical infrastructure). Also evaluating teachers, curriculla and teaching methods in order to breach gaps, to train and retrain when needed. BNO is also providing services to the community as a whole, meaning act as a medium between education and the industry, the labour market and other institutes national and international.
BNO is the main source for information on TVET and the implementing unit for the Department for TVET.
The Department for TVET is Headed by the Assistant Permanent Secretary for TVET (Mr. Leonel J. Soetosenojo).
The most important mission of the Department is: Education for all and promoting lifelong learning.
