08-11-2006 (Rabat)
Pupil dropout: Fourth dossier of the jeunessearabe.info portal
Pupil dropout was chosen by jeunessearabe.info to underline several factors that contribute to keeping children out of school, namely economic, social, cultural and political obstacles.
Combined these obstacles form a overwhelming barrier which does not only deprives children of education but also all the society of a better future.

The online dossier, compiled by the Moroccan youth association "Chifae for development and fight against illiteracy" from Tangier, aims at explaining the challenges that countries in the Arab region are facing.

Failing education systems, poverty's damage, school costs, child labour and other obstacles to schooling will be the subjects treated by the portal forum from 30 October to 30 November 2006. Young people and youth associations from the countries of the Arab region are invited to take part in this forum to express their point of view about pupil dropout. The languages of discussion are: Arabic, French and English.

Created in 2004 within the frame of a joint programming initiative between UNESCO and ISESCO, the jeunessearabe.info portal aims to provide in the information needs of the youth and youth associations of the Arab world.

This portal is part of INFOYOUTH programme, a worldwide information network on youth issues.
