Training of trainers on Microsoft Unlimited Potential curriculum in Senegal

In the framework of the Community Multimedia Centers (CMC) project, UNESCO in collaboration with Microsoft organized in Dakar from 24 to 29 July 2006 a workshop for training trainers in the use of Microsoft courseware.
The objective of this training was to reinforce the capacities of the CMC in Senegal and to sustain the partnership and networking among CMCs and other community based telecenters, especially those of the agency Environnement et développement du tiers-monde (ENDA), Cyber Pop and Fostering Digital Inclusion (ADEN).
22 trainers from CMCs, ENDA, Cyber Pop, and ADEN attended the workshop. The training aimed at reinforcing the technical skills of the trainers through the Microsoft Unlimited Potential Curriculum on its office programmes (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, Internet, FrontPage), as well as pedagogical and networking skills. The training on networking was performed by Telecenter.org.
The training was extremely useful, and many participants said that they would organize training sessions in their centers and set up a network of CMC and other community centers.
« ICTs offers a great opportunity to train our people. It is a joy to have trained and competent people able to take advantage from the opportunities that are offered by ICTs” said Joseph Ndong, Senegal’s Minister of Post, Telecommunications and ICTs at the closing ceremony.
The ambassador of Switzerland in Dakar, Livio Hürzeler felicitating the organizing team said: “It is certainly an important stage of the advancement of the CMC project, and the results gained today are showing that the wager we laid, was useful. We hope the experience will go on.”
