Media in Conflict and Post-Conflict Situations

For several years now, UNESCO has been supporting independent media in conflict and post-conflict situations
  • As a response to requests for policy development and coordination of assistance to media in conflict, UNESCO was instrumental in initiating a strategic partnership for addressing media needs in West Africa. Following a consultative meeting among key stakeholders, the Partnership for Media and Conflict Prevention in West Africa was formed. The objective of this Partnership is to facilitate the provision of rapid and collaborative support to the media to pre-empt and mitigate conflicts and their humanitarian consequences as well ensure the transition of these quick impact projects into sustainable efforts towards democratisation and development.
