16 January 2015 Delegation from Palestine at UNESCO-UNEVOC The visit was part of a study tour organized by GIZ for its partner institutions in Gaza to familiarize key TVET actors from Palestine with the German dual vocational education system, and with possibilities of international cooperation in TVET. 17 December 2014 TVET in the knowledge-based society: Saudi Arabia At the request of the Saudi Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, Shyamal Majumdar visited Riyadh to share technical expertise and deliver a keynote presentation on “Knowledge-based societies and TVET” at the Seventh Saudi Technical Conference and Exhibition (STCEX-7). 12 December 2014 New country reports in World TVET Database New country reports have been published for Benin, Cambodia, Chad, Iraq, Latvia, Lithuania, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Qatar, South Africa, Uganda and USA. UNESCO-UNEVOC continues to expand the World TVET Database and more country reports will be available soon. (more)

13 November 2014 Jordanian delegation visits UNESCO-UNEVOC UNESCO-UNEVOC welcomed a delegation from Jordan including representatives of two UNEVOC Centres in Jordan to its premises on 10 November 2014. The delegation came to Bonn with the aim of learning more about UNESCO-UNEVOC, and in particular the UNEVOC Network. (more)

12 June 2014 National workshop on encouraging technical and vocational skills development in Syria Under the patronage of the Minister of Education-Chairman of the Syrian National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO-Beirut and the Syria National Commission for UNESCO organized a two-day workshop in Damascus. 11 June 2014 National training workshop on promoting work and life skills in Lebanon In May, in the presence of UNEVOC Centres, a national training workshop on promoting capacity development and work skills in the education and training system was held in Lebanon to develop technical and vocational programmes. 9 June 2014 Joint expert meeting on the recommendation concerning TVET and adult learning On 27 and 28 May 2014, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning UIL, UNESCO-UNEVOC and the UNESCO Section for TVET jointly organized an expert meeting on the Revision of the UNESCO Recommendations concerning Adult Learning and Education (ALE) and Technical and Vocational Education (TVE). 13 May 2014 Workshop on partnership between TVET and the labour market in Taiz, Yemen In Taiz, Yemen, a workshop on developing and promoting the partnership between TVET and the labour market was held in order to define and identify the opportunities as well as the challenges resulting from such a partnership. 31 March 2014 Conference on Technical and Vocational Education & Training: Challenges and Opportunities PAAET (Kuwait UNEVOC Centre) is organizing a TVET conference with the aim to provide an opportunity for experts in TVET to share experiences and establish collaborations at National, Regional and International levels; discuss strategies for the development of TVET towards manpower social, and economic variations; identify the international experiences in development of TVET; and identify the latest methods of quality assurance in TVET. 14 February 2014 UNEVOC Centre-Yemen receives TVET-Entrepreneurship Education Award Organized jointly with the British Council in Sana’a, Yemen, H. E. Dr. Abdel Hafiz Noman, Minister of TVET patronaged the TVET-Entrepreneurship Education Award for five projects developed as part of TVET Programmes and Institutions. (more)

27 November 2013 King Abdullah scholarships for teacher trainers PINZ has managed a program that has seen students from its sister UNEVOC Center TVTC in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, come to New Zealand to complete their degrees followed by a Certificate in Adult Teaching (CAT). (more)

27 November 2013 Regional Expert Meeting in Beirut highlights opportunities for online networking to improve TVET in the region The three-day meeting on Promising Practices in TVET and Entrepreneurship Education in the Arab States held in Beirut demonstrated the willingness of different institutions to work closely together in tackling common issues in TVET. 7 October 2013 Validation workshop on the study of policies and practices on TVET Teachers and Instructors in the Arab Region On the occasion of World Teachers Day, TVET experts and representatives from ten Arab States convened at UNESCO HQ in Paris to discuss the preliminary findings of a regional study that aims to provide a framework for comparison of prevailing practices in TVET teacher education.
