Call for submissions: UNESCO Digital Arts Award 2007

Young artists around the world will be encouraged to submit creative projects based on the DigiArts’ 2007 theme ‘Urban Environment and Communities’. The prize of US$10.000 will be awarded to one or several laureates.
In addition, the prize winner(s) will be invited to lead a training workshop at the Sharjah Biennial 8 (4 April - 4 June 2007, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates): "Still life - Art Ecology and the Politics of Change".
The meeting is part of the framework of the Biennial’s Education programme, and the workshop will probe in-depth how creative digital practises and expressions can foster global conversation and respect towards the environment’s sustainable development.
The UNESCO Digital Arts Award forms a special category of the UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Arts and is dedicated to recognizing outstanding creative achievements by young artists using innovative expressions and forms through the use of digital technology.
The deadline for submission is 31 December 2006.
