The Institution is connected to the Ministry of Education and is active in the field of technological education, aiming at offering the following: both, Industrial Engineering and related short-term courses at the undergraduate level; other courses at the undergraduate level in science and technology for the qualification of teaching staff in high schools and engineering and technology colleges; courses at the graduate level in response to specific technological education demands; and specialisation courses in different sectors of technological education.

The Institution is also active in developing various research activities in the fields of interest for industry and technology, as well as participating in joint projects together with public and private corporations.
