UNESCO Partnerships

With the mission of contributing to peace and human development in an era of globalization, UNESCO considers partnerships as a necessity, not just an option.
Partners

UNESCO is a worldwide network with Headquarters in Paris (France) and 52 field offices. Its Communications and Information Programme benefits from a multidisciplinary perspective through work with other UNESCO sectors: Education, Natural Sciences, Culture, and Social and Human Sciences. The Organization works with a wide range of other partners:

  • United Nations system
    UNESCO works with various UN agencies and participates in the One UN Pilot Initiative which aims to bring UN Agencies together to improve programme delivery.

  • Intergovernmental organizations (IGO)
    UNESCO cooperates with intergovernmental organizations which do not belong to the United Nations system. In addition, UNESCO collaborates closely with a number of multilateral organizations.

  • Private sector
    UNESCO cooperates with numerous partners from the private sector: small and medium enterprises, multinationals, foundations, professional, administrative or economic associations, philanthropist organisations and individuals.

  • UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors
    The aims of UNESCO’s Communication and Information Sector are advanced through the advocacy work of Goodwill Ambassadors, an outstanding group of celebrities who spread the ideals of UNESCO through their name and fame.

  • Non-governmental organizations (NGO)
    Since its inception, UNESCO cooperates with a number of non-governmental organizations in its fields of competence: campaign and research networks, professional unions, religious and community associations, parent and student associations, social movements, etc.

    UNESCO cooperates with a variety of institutions inside its Member States. It includes archives, libraries, information centres, schools universities, museums, etc.
