The new Information Management Resource Kit (IMARK) e-learning module is intended to provide the knowledge and awareness required for those responsible for formulating improved information management strategies within their organizations. A French version of the module, produced by CIRAD with UNESCO support, is now available.
How can information strategies be established and implemented within an organization? How can information projects be assessed? These questions are answered by the third component in the IMARK information management resource kit, "Investing in Information for Development".
The module looks at the changes resulting from the new information environment and describes how information and communication technologies affect information operations within organizations.
The curriculum comprises 19 lessons of around 30 minutes each, split between six units and corresponding to a total of around ten hours' learning. The following topics are covered: information for development, information strategy, information access, information dissemination, organization and management, and evaluating an information project.
The lessons and materials that make up the module, as well as other IMARK modules are available free of charge via the IMARK website or on CD-ROM. Users may register online free of charge to access the contents of the modules.
The French version of the module was produced by the Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) with financial support from the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and UNESCO. It is an adaptation of the English module "Investing in Information for Development" produced by CTA, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), GTZ (an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development), the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the University of Wageningen.
This new module illustrates UNESCO's commitment towards the IMARK initiative and the ongoing collaboration and synergies between UNESCO and FAO to build capacities in the domain of information management.
