INDIAN OCEAN - Seychelles Activities

Commencement Activities

The Cabinet of Ministers of Seychelles endorsed the proposal to be the start-up country for Small Islands Voice in the Indian Ocean on 13.02.02. UNESCO consultant, Ms Gillian Cambers, visited the country from 12-23rd March 2002 to meet with individuals and organisations, and to lay the groundwork for the initiative. During this period there was an official launching ceremony for Small Islands Voice in Seychelles. A trial survey was conducted to test out methods for finding out the general public's views on environment and development. During this visit, meetings were held with persons from the following organisations:
