In celebration of both the International Youth Year (IYY) and Tenth Anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10), a global youth volunteer exchange on transformational change through non-formal education for life skills, heritage education, and literacy will take place at UNESCO Headquarters from 30 June to 1 July 2011.

This workshop is jointly organized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, the UNESCO NGO Joint Programmatic Commission on Youth (JPCY), the Co-ordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) and the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC), within the framework of the World Heritage Education Programme and with funding from the Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission.

Young men and women from all regions will discuss how volunteerism and non-formal education can build skills, knowledge and positive attitudes to enable them to become "agents for change" for peace and sustainable development in their communities and societies.
