Ms. Darcy Nugent, a Graduate Student in Environmental Studies at San Jose State University, California, USA, conducted an assessment of the SIV Youth internet forum for her thesis work over the period October 2004-June 2005. Objectives of this research include being able to answer questions such as whether student Internet forums are a successful tool for environmental education in small island developing nations, and whether the SIV youth forum has been successful in raising awareness about environmental concerns.

During March and April 2005, Darcy visited participating schools in The Bahamas, St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean; and Cook Islands and Fiji in the Pacific. A press release issued by the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service provides further information on her visit to that island. She also sent out detailed questionnaires to the islands she was unable to visit.

The information collected is being compiled into a report which will be used to plan the future of the SIV Youth Internet Forum.
