Three OPAL events to take place in Dublin next week

The Open Educational Quality Initiative (OPAL), a European consortium led by UNESCO, will be taking a prominent part in the 20th Annual European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN) Conference next week in Dublin, Ireland.
The EDEN 2011Conference will be held at Trinity College, in Dublin (Ireland) from 20 to 23 June 2011. It will focus on the concept of responsible and sustainable development within learning.
The OPAL thematic workshop at the 2011 EDEN Conference aims to introduce the concept of educational practices to institutional actors, and share best practices in monitoring and spear-heading adoption of such practices in each institution. The workshop will serve as an integral part of the work plan foreseen for the OPAL initiative, of which UNESCO is a pivotal partner.
The Open Educational Quality Initiative (OPAL) will be organizing three events to promote OPAL at the EDEN Conference:
OER Thematic Workshop on 20 June:
OPAL paper presentation on 21 June; and
EDEN General Assembly, Post-Conference OPAL Workshop on 23 June.
UNESCO is a leading contributor to the OPAL Open Educational Practices framework, as well as to the development of the Registry of OER Champions and the Clearinghouse of Open Educational Practices.
The primary OPAL motivation is to improve the promotion of Open Educational Resources by showing how innovative Open Educational Practices can be.
