Reinforcing collaboration with the UNESCO UNITWIN Network of Chairs on Intercultural Dialogue
From 17 to 18 December 2015, UNESCO will be hosting the Executive Committee of its UNITWIN Network of Chairs on Interreligious Dialogue for Intercultural Understanding, at its Headquarters in Paris.
This meeting coincides with a very difficult international context. It will seek to identify new approaches for collaboration in this key area of the Organization’s work, within the framework of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022).
Building on the discussion started during the Academic Forum of UNESCO Chairs at the 3rd World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku (Azerbaijan), May 2015, the meeting has a three-fold objective:
(i) Mapping of new synergies for enhancing intercultural and interreligious dialogue;
(ii) Brainstorming on future thematic priority areas for UNESCO’s work on promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue; and
(iii) Review of the functioning and strengthening of the UNITWIN Network.
The meeting will offer the opportunity to kick-off a collaborative project “Developing e-learning resources for promoting intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding”, funded by the Republic of Azerbaijan.
